The Corporate Blogger Strikes Back
My name for the purposes of this blog is Sales Centel. I work in B2B sales and go to an office in a major city. I commute, talk at the proverbial water cooler (we have a bevi), and see a little red on my morning wipe due to the one-ply. I work late and sometimes I play a lil hooky as sales allows. I am in search of these elusive $150k+ email jobs that let you work just a couple of hours a day. I am pretty good at what I do and some days I even enjoy what I do. Other days I want to quit and tell our VP what I really think (strong words, I know). In other words I am relatively normal late 20's/early 30's out of the box white guy.
To some that might sound like easy street and I promise that it is. It's great to have a job, some might say a budding career, that pays the bills and lends me the flexibility to make pretty much any wedding/family event/bachelor party/etc.
All this to say I walk the walk and talk the talk about working in corporate America.
But why am I here? Why are you still reading?
Because I have sat idly by for too long as bloggers have gotten their lunch eaten by influencers on social media. I have toiled away in empty rows of cubicles as these work from home influencers larped as working adults.
What have I noticed since it's just me and a few senior leaders in the office? Do you think they assume I am texting a customer when I am on the phone at my desk? No they hate the scroll as much as they hate counting votes. Also, looking at instagram on my desktop is fucking dumb and #blocked.
What we need is the return of the blogs from the days of 'yore. As companies tighten their belts and force people into the office, more and more of these work from home people who were shopping are going to realize you can't scroll all day without committing a CLM (Career Limiting Move for those who don't race).
So how am I supposed to take a knee on a day I am deathly hungover? How can I entertain myself besides going to update salesforce or "hit the phones" as the olds and life insurance bros would suggest?
Well I think the answer is to be the change you want to see in the world.
While it's subject to change, we here at Sales Centel plan to entertain you at your place of work from your desktop. We will take to social media only as a necessary evil to promote the blog. We are actually losing money on this and the shareholders (wife) doesn't think I am funny.
This will also probably be the most genuine I am in a blog.
So what is my ✨WHY✨:
1) Honestly I am pretty annoyed by the anti-work crowd.
2) I want a place to dump a stream of consciousness and try make everyone laugh.
3) As I have gotten into the corporate world it has gotten more and more difficult to find genuine takes people are trying to get off. Over the years there have been numerous sites that have promised anonymity only to turn around and sell out (fishbowl, repvue, glassdoor, etc). This makes it difficult to find out what people actually do and what jobs might actually be fun/fulfilling/interesting.
4) If the day ever comes where someone actually reads any of this and I can sell out via ads, merch, shilling something, or someone wanting to acquire this site then you can be confident I will sell out (but not your data).
5) I really miss seeing funny stories from big in person events like SKOs, sales meetings, company meetings, office interactions, etc. These seem to be scarcely shared due to fear of being connected back to their job. See point #3 and #6 for more.
6) As I try to figure out what else I might want to do, I try to find forums where people share some real experiences at their job. It's weird to talk to your friends about and it's hard to get an honest answer networking so Reddit seems to be a logical place to get anonymous thoughts. WRONG!! It's full of college students, anti-work, and disgruntled people. They would be thrown out of a jury immediately their bias and lack of experience* is so clear.
7) I am also disappointed whenever I see a tik tok or instagram corporate influencer leave their job to go full time. As Hayley Williams said so well "Like shooting stars in the night sky"
In short, Corporate Stories are funny and we spend too much time at these places to not have a little fun. I am firmly in the camp that if you spend over half your waking hours with other people you end up getting pretty close with them and it's pretty anti-social to hate being at work.
My biggest promise to my readers is that nothing written is ever AI Written but I am going to steal the fuck out of AI's images if I feel like. I don't have time for copywrite(right?). If I ever make money I will pay an artist though.

What are my big north stars for the site itself though? For the reader?
1) I want to hear and share your real experiences. I also want to protect your identity. I truly believe in the mission to help people find a job they love. Unless you come from money and don't need to work, then you probably spend over half you waking hours trying to make enough to get by. So for that I think you should enjoy what you do to some degree and if you don't at least learn how to enjoy the people.
2) Because of the anonymity I think
I say I am annoyed by the anti-work crowd but some days I might even say I hate them. I am not here to say I love work or my job. In fact I fantasize about quitting all the time and would deeply resent being called a bootlicker.
HOWEVA
I also like vacations, money, being able to see friends/family, and not feel deeply impacted by prices every day. So if that means I do what I can to be easy to work with, agreeable, and ultimately make sure I don't make other people's jobs harder then call me Captain Bootlicker.
"I saw someone die and they had a job posting up next week....just remember that." Well yeah and that's kind of a compliment because you were too important to not replace. Also how self important can you be to think literally the entire world will stop for you especially if your attitude the whole time you were working was "it's just a job and I don't owe these people or place anything." Well if that's the attitude you're putting out, then you shouldn't be surprised when no one cares that you're gone (hopefully not actually dead).
Reddit is filled with weirdos and/or entry level employees repeating axioms (is that the word?) from disgruntled employees who likely have more issues with themselves than they're admitting.
